Re: Initial Notification of New Safety Recall. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL
TRIUMPH REVISED ENGINE CALIBRATION.
TIGER 800, TIGER 800 ABS, TIGER 800 XC AND TIGER 800 XC ABS.
SERVICE BULLETIN NO 431 REFERS.
We require your immediate attention and assistance to rectify all Tiger 800 machines within the above vin range.
Please refer to Service Bulletin 431 in the Service Bulletin library for repair instructions. Triumph Diagnostic software version 2011-2 has today been released for your immediate adoption. Service Bulletin 431 must only be carried out using diagnostic software version 2011-2 or higher.
Please print the Bulletin for your workshop files and ensure all appropriate staff are made aware of its contents.
It is imperative that any owner having recently purchased an affected motorcycle should be contacted by you immediately and asked to return it for modification.
We require you to immediately quarantine any unsold or uncollected motorcycles and arrange their modification prior to any further deliveries to customers. Please see below for correct process.
You may have several affected vins ready for customer collection. Please submit new warranty priors for these bikes. We trust you will be able to repair any bikes prior to handover. WOL will include full details for you to download from tomorrow.
The Service Bulletin enquiry button contained within your Warranty On Line program may also be used from tomorrow to check the outstanding bulletin claim status of each affected vehicle. Our WOL computer files have been updated today to enable you (from tomorrow) to access the latest data; including affected bike visibility. Please ensure you conduct a warranty online full download daily until further notice.
Dealer Action:
1. Quarantine all unsold affected motorcycles and arrange modification.
2. Please note some vins affected by SB431, may also require other SB work to be carried out.
3. Read, download and circulate the above mentioned Service Bulletin to relevant staff.
4. Ensure all Sales and Service staff are aware of this action.
5. Ensure you complete a warranty on line FULL download each day. Updated files relating to this action will be available from tomorrow.
6. Owners of machines outside of the affected Vin range are not be connected with this action and may therefore require reassurance.
7. This action is likely to increase visitors to your showroom and service areas, please ensure all arrangements are made to best accommodate them.
Triumph Action:
1. A copy of Service Bulletin 431 will be posted onto Triumphonline.net by tomorrow latest.
2. All arrangements for the updating of our computer systems will be completed ready for your WOL Full Download tomorrow. Service Bulletin 431 will be added.
3. A letter to current customers is to be mailed by Triumph in the next few days explaining the action and also advising that the modification will be carried out free of charge.
This action is being monitored by the UK Vehicle Operator Service Agency and is being run in compliance with the Industry Code of Conduct governing motorcycle safety recalls.
